Happy Red, White & Blue!

To the US readers, Happy Independence Day!  To all others, Happy Monday!

I was looking for something to decorate the table with since my parents were coming to BBQ and I found this table runner.  I made this one several years ago. It was during a horrid heatwave where it was just too hot to be outside on the 4th. (We aren’t far from that this year either!!). I remember we stayed inside and I found some scraps to make this runner so I would feel like I was celebrating the 4th in some way.

This was very early on as far as free motion quilting goes but it looks pretty good. I remember thinking the spirals were a bit of a trick.

I think it is a sweet 4th of July decoration and it makes the table so festive.

Additionally, around the same time, I made this little flag for Mom and Dad. They hang in on the house during the summer. They live up the hill from me in a big house that has a large wrap around deck and it looks pretty hanging there.

I think this could be one of the first times I did any appliqué on a quilt. It is a cute little flag with an Americana feel to it.

Linking up to a few fun parties which, as always, are found at the top of the page under Link Ups.  Have a safe and happy 4th of July!!

Happy Fourth! Have a fun day
Here, it is super drabbo in No Va and I will spend a few hours at my parents (the 03 year old twins)
and then come home and get back to work on everything haha
I love your quilts. It is sweet that your first applique project was this and you gave it to your ‘rents❤

We didn’t do a whole lot either Rosemary. We bbq’d with my parents on Sunday and spent Monday doing some yard projects. It was still a good weekend though! Take care and thanks for stopping by.

Thank you Claudia. We were quite safe because my daughter went to a sleepover last night and we just stayed home and watched a movie. Not especially celebratory but nice all the same! Have a nice week.

Happy 4th of July to you! I hope you have a lovely day; we’re planning on trying to stay inside for most of the day but looking forward to the evening festivities. These are both lovely projects that have held up very well since you made them!

Thank you. I don’t have too many seasonal quilts but it is fun to bring them out when that time of year rolls around. Have a good week Yvonne. 🙂

Happy Independence Day! I pulled out my table runner too! It was the first little ‘quilt’ I made after we moved into the new house with a dedicated sewing room. It has a special place in my heart. Hope you had a great BBQ. Our temps were a little cooler this year, which made for a great evening outside with friends.

      Hi Kristy:

Yes, the bbq was great and the weather wasn’t so awful. Today seems even better too. I am not a fan of high temps. Hope you enjoy summer and all that it brings. Take care.

Great runner for a Fourth of July celebration! Like the flowers too! Don’t you just love looking at older projects and seeing how your skills have improved over time?

Yes, it is gratifying to look back and see the progress that has been made.
Sunflowers are one of my favorites. I have tried to grow them but every time I plant them, the finches massacre them. I cannot find a way around it. So, I have to buy them. I think they are so cheerful though.

A happy belated Independence Day to you too! I love the spirals on the table runner, it makes me think of fireworks bursting in the sky. Hope your BBQ went well and a good time was had by all. It pretty much rained nonstop here. Which is okay, because it game me an excuse to stay inside and quilt.

I love both pieces! But most of all, I love that your parents are so close. And a big house with a wraparound porch? Well that’s my dream! Happy 4th, Bernie!

      Hi Cassandra,
Thanks so much. My parents built their house when they retired and it has been a great place for family gatherings over the years.
How is your new house coming along? Are you still dealing with boxes? Moving is sooo much work.
Hope summer is going well for you and your family. 🙂

Thank you Kate! The 4th was a fun day and the bbq with Mom and Dad was very nice. Ray did most of the cooking so that made it even better!

These are such nice touches for the holiday. I’m glad you had a good day. We are in drought so fireworks were banned in our community. Not all bad, if you ask me. We watched our fireworks on TV. #getting old

We couldn’t have fireworks either. Ray and I watched a movie and Julia went to a friends for a sleepover. It was peaceful. I suppose I’m getting old too. ?
