It occurs to me that this will be a wonderful donation recipient to keep in mind long after February is over as a way to use up pieces of fabric after finishing a full size quilt. A perfect why to keep from getting any further into the scrap hoarding. I love how you added the little tie for a bit more doll modesty in the hospital gown!!

For sure. I just found a few patterns for doll clothes for 18” dolls and think I will try making a few outfits. Takes a village, right?

Absolutely wonderful Bernie. I’m just waiting for my friend to finish her quilts and I will post them off together. It is such a pleasure to support such a deserving cause.

This is just so super, Bernie! I hope to make a few more quilts, and I need to get some gowns done too. Oh, a curated bundle by Kitty — I’m looking forward to seeing that!

This is WONDERFUL. I too have been bitten by the doll quilt bug and can’t stop making them. Please send me the address where to send them off to. Right now I have finished 8 and a few more in the works. It is refreshing to make small things and have them done in a day or two. Thanks for bringing this to our collective attention. Go QUILTERS.

Hi Bernie, Please send me Amy’s address. I have a quilt sewn and quilted, just no binding yet. I recently did a post about the process on making the flimsy but haven’t blogged about the finish yet. Thanks!

Hey, Bernie. Haven’t heard from you about the address to send my doll quilt to. No pressure, but thought maybe things got lost in the shuffle. Thx again!

Sadly, my doll quilt sewing this weekend just got bumped because my daughter came home with a note that she needs her costume for the school play on Monday. Thanks for the notice, School! I don’t sew THAT fast!

BUT! My target for the doll quilts is 6 – one each from me and my 5 kids, that they will help make because they need to learn service while they’re young. So please go ahead and send me the address and they’ll be sent as soon as I can get them done. Thanks for hosting this! What a great cause – Amy is amazing for making those dolls!

Trina, no problem. Amy has an ongoing need for this so as you and the kids make the doll quilts, she will happily use them. Good luck with the costume sewing for school this weekend!

I would love to supply hospital gowns for the dolls; this is one precious and blessed project all around. Please let me know where to send the gowns and how to appropriately link to the source for including this on my blog. I found you through KAHolly. You are blessed to be a blessing to so many; thank you for any help that you can provide.

Bernie, count me in, and anyone else I can persuade to join me in my group. I will need the dimensions for the quilts, as well as the address of where to send gowns and quilts.
I wanted you to know that I received TWO thank you notes from Dignity Health and the caregivers for the quilt I sent to you for Covered in Love. What a nice gesture for those people to take the time to sign a card and send another letter. It took me very little time to create a quilt top, but I know it made a difference for the family of their loved one, to be able to have the quilt that covered their dying family member as they passed, and to keep it as another memory. Thank you for bringing this endeavour to our attention. Jill in PHoenix/Calgary

Happy to hear you received a thank you. Mercy Hospital is really grateful for the quilts that have been donated. The response has been wonderful. The need is on-going so if anyone you know wants to join in, please share the project with them. Take care.

I love the hospital gowns and will look through my stash for appropriate fqs when I get home. Are these supposed to be mild prints like you used here, that sort of look like actual gowns, or can they be any wild print or design? What a great thing you are doing. I love the story of A Doll Like Me, and it’s so great to see how the doll quilt drive went.

Susan, I think you should make the gowns with whatever fabric appeals to you. The kids will enjoy them for sure! Thanks so much. 🙂

Bernie, your darling quilts and hospital gowns are just the cutest additions to “A Doll Like Me!” My daughter called yesterday to let me know that Amy’s remarkable journey was broadcasting on CBS, and since I am a retired medical and school social worker who also makes dolls and quilts; she knew I would be inspired! Does Amy need more hospital gowns and/or doll quilts. I notice that some of the dolls wear knit (jersey) hats too? Please e-mail and address for Amy so I might be able to forward gowns/quilts. Thank you
