Shipping Orders, Sewing, and Cute Kid Pics

Hello there! Life is still quite busy here. The fabric sale continues and customers are keeping me busy. I am happy to say the stack of empty bolts is still growing and the shelves of bolted fabric are shrinking. Thank you all for supporting me as I clear out the shop in anticipation of closing it.

In between shipping orders, we have had a lot going on. I haven’t been able to get a ton of quilting done but I do get to the machine now and then.

I am working on my blocks for the Positivity QAL. The other day I suppose I wasn’t paying attention because the block wasn’t assembled correctly. Ooops! Luckily it took little time to unpick the stitches and fix it (the upper left block). The blocks are super easy to make and I am enjoying it. People are starting to post their progress on Instagram under #thepositivityqal. Check them out to see! If you want to join in, there is time. The QAL is just getting started!! Sure some people (Preeti and Cheree, I am looking at you!) are finishing flimsies but others (ME) have all of five blocks sewn. Also, for those of you who are already into this, remember the first link up for showing progress shots is this Sunday. Preeti and I have decided I will hold the link up here though. So come back here to link up on Sunday, ok?? (Note to self: go figure out how to host a link up since you haven’t hosted one in several years. Haha)

I have also had some time to work on the gray and blue monster I am making for my bed. We have a king size bed so this is certainly the largest quilt I have made yet. (I have made four queen size quilts though and this isn’t too much bigger than those). I am very happy with this project though. My husband chose the fabrics and helped me select the pattern. Mainly I need to work on the sashing strips and then assemble the rows and add borders and baste it and quilt it and bind it and wash it. See – I think I am almost done!

The garden is going nuts now. Zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, bunching onions, boysenberries, and blueberries are coming in fast and furious. Tomatoes are just starting to turn color, the shallots look great and the pumpkins are happily growing.

Before I close (which I really need to do so I can get downstairs and ship orders), here are some smiles for you. The girls are growing like crazy and I am feeling the urge to see them again! It has been just over a month and they seem different already, especially the one year old. At that age, there is something new almost daily.

Hmmm, I am sure there is some way to make this thing go.
Daydreaming. Remember doing this as a kid in the summer?
Silly girl, wearing Dad’s hat.

OK – I will be back on Sunday with a link up for you! Come and check out the quilts people are making or link up your progress shots.

My order arrived yesterday, along with your note 🙂 Wilbs quickly claimed the stack for himself, curling up on it as much as he could! Thanks for sharing the pics of the littles! Too cute!

Yes, the kids are enjoying their summer. However the heat wave is heading up their way and it is supposed to be brutal this weekend. (109*F). They don’t have central air since the Seattle area is NEVER this hot so I think it will be quite uncomfortable. Hoping it doesn’t last too long for them. Take care Kathy.

I laughed at your picture of the mixed up plus block! Haven’t we all done that?! I’ve made exactly 4 blocks, but I figure at least I’m joining in. Love that you have blueberries growing – yummy! Hope you get up to see those adorable girls soon. I’m headed over to see what’s still available in your shop!

The blueberries are just nuts this year Diann. I think Ray has froze over 15 pounds so far. We are eating them, sharing them – and they just keep coming!! Thank you for your recent order. It went out today!!

That picture of A. on the tricycle is just too much! I love the blueberries, too. Lucky you. Your bed quilt looks great and calm for a bed. I agree–it’s practically finished! See you on Sunday with my positivity progress!

Isn’t she hysterical. Her daddy thinks she looks like she is hitting the road, taking off for an adventure. She is so funny
See you Sunday at the link up (which I still haven’t looked into!). Get going Bernie!!

Oh my goodness, such sweethearts! That one-year old is a jewel! They grow up sooo fast! I know you’ll really enjoy being able to spend more time with these beautiful children. Do take care; I look forward to seeing what others are creating. I’ve packed all of my fabric away until after we get moved to the new home, wherever it winds up being. So for now, I’ll just enjoy watching what everyone else is doing.

Totally understand – this isn’t your sewing season! Keep organizing and getting ready for the move and when you have a new sewing space set up, you will be so excited to get back to it!

Sounds like you are going to have a lot to enjoy from the garden; yum! We are still working hard to clean up here, but we are starting to dream of being ready to plant a garden. All in good time, I suppose. The king size quilt is probably making great progress, and I look forward to watching it come together for you. 🙂

Planting a garden is the best. However each time I have moved, it seems like I have to learn the climate and what to grow. So it might be a good thing it hasn’t happened just yet. You’ll get to know your property and then figure out what to plant!

OH sweeties! These photos sure show the joys of summer. I hope they can stay cool in their crazy hot weather, though. I like your bed quilt. Do you plan to longarm quilt it? See you Sunday!!

I am wondering how the heck to quilt this one. I may have someone to it. It is awfully big!
The kids are dreading the temps that are coming. They have one window a/c unit and that’s it. I think they will all just sit in front of it, waiting for the temps to go back down! Such a drag. Take care Janine!

Oh my goodness; those granddaughters of yours are SO adorable!! I love that photo of your blueberries, too — what a beautiful range of colors as they are ripening. I see a quilt palette!

The blueberries are such a pretty plant – they turn a nice shade of rusty red in the fall too. I love that. Yes, that picture might be a good one to base a fabric pull on!

I love your blue poz blocks so far! Yes, I’d like to figure out how to do a link up too! I’m super jealous of the blueberries! We’ve tried to plant them multiple times (and yes, making a nice acidic soil!) but no luck. I’ve heard they’re hard to get going around here, but once you’ve got ’em, you’ve got ’em. In my garden re-do plans, I’ll be trying them again–just one more time! Have a good one and enjoy those grandkids!

My farmer husband does will with the blueberries for sure. But raspberries are his nemesis. He cannot get those started. Sigh. There is always a challenge somewhere!

SO many fun pictures…except for the oops. It is so easy to do. Hope to be ready for Sunday, but that means I have to give up catching up on blogs….but I feel better once that is done. I am nearly there and hope to have them ready to post and display! Those kids are adorable.

No pressure – So far I have only finished eight blocks! I may do a few more tonight but who knows?? They will get done at some point. Hope to see yours soon Kathleen.

Oh, Bernie! I remember laying on the grass, enjoying the beautiful blue sky and the clouds passing slowly by as a younger girl. And that tricycle picture!!! OMG – that is so darn adorable. Yes, it is time for another visit. Like you said – they change and learn something new every single day. Multiple times a day! HAHA – the Positivity block that was almost wrong, or actually was for a moment. I did a few of those just earlier this morning. I made it to the halfway point and was just about to write an update for tomorrow. You betcha I’ll be back to enjoy everyone’s link-up! I adore seeing all the different fabric choices and layout guesses, etc. Fun times and for a wonderful charity to boot. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks Roseanne. Glad you are joining in on the QAL. I love that Preeti showed so many different ways to layout the blocks. She thought of everything!! I will look for your post tomorrow. 🙂
