Yellow stars – Done!

Another finish! Trying to get things all finished up for March. These stars are my RSC15 project for this month. The color is yellow and these turned out so cute.

Two of the stars have a bit of a mistake. However, I am calling this creative design. Mostly because I don’t feel like ripping it out.  Do you see the mistakes? Hint, hint, look at the star that is second to the left in the picture above.

Here are the first three rows of the quilt. I am following along with Mari over at Academic Quilter. She is posts a new block for this row quilt the first Tuesday of each month. Looking forward to seeing what is up for April!

We are going to work on the house in Downieville this weekend so I won’t get a lot of sewing done. I do plan to take up some hand sewing. I am making some throw pillows for the guest bed and I am going to try hand quilting one while I am up there. I have never hand quilted before so we’ll see how it goes. Are there any tricks? Advice is more than welcome. I plan to quilt straight lines running on the diagonal. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Linking to Angela at So Scrappy for this month’s RSC15 challenge.

I think it looks fine and wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t said anything. : ) Have fun hand quilting. I love it. Tips? Hmmm. Don’t worry about the size of the stitches, just practice consistency. But that’s the key–practice, practice, practice. (Where have you heard that before?). For myself, I’m most comfortable with one of those thimbles that’s open on top and fits around your fingernail. In fact, I use a cheapy plastic one, and I can quilt comfortably for hours (or until my vision gives out). Don’t forget to take some pix of your 50’s kitchen with your new decor.

Thanks Janine. Do you have a thread preference? Needle size, etc? Good reminder on the thimble, I will throw one in the bag!

Thanks Carol. I have never done a row quilt before — I’m really enjoying the process, making one row each month is perfect! So glad you stopped by.

They look great! If you don’t point out the turned pieces, everyone will think it’s a design feature. Hope you have fun with your new little house. Do you have a machine up there yet? Could be time! 🙂

No machine up here yet. I am taking pictures this weekend and when you see them, you will understand that sewing isn’t really an option just yet! Soon though. I am hoping by summer. ☺️

Thank you! I couldn’t think of any easier way to take pictures of my progress, other than pinning it up to the fence! I don’t think I want to see any of the rows together until I see all of them completed. Then I can play with the colors and the blocks.

      So glad you stopped over!

this is a grand idea… a row quilt by color! So smart! I can not see a mistake. The eye wants to find regularity and will make it if it’s missing!! LeeAnna at not afraid of color

Isn’t that interesting because the mistake stands out to me. I guess it doesn’t really matter though. The row quilt by color idea for was conceived by Mari over at Academic Quilter. I have been following along with her and loving it!

      Thanks for coming by.
