Getting Outside

Today Julia and I needed something different to do so we decided to do a few errands and then go for a short hike. We are fortunate to live in an area with tons of gorgeous walking trails. Julia chose Hirschman Trail for today’s walk.

We have walked here several times before. It is an easy walk and there are some really pretty sites to see.

The highlight of this trail is a beautiful pond. It comes up quickly but I look forward to seeing it each time – once on the way in and again on the way back out. Today there were two beautiful ducks swimming. Other times I have seen large turtles swimming at the water’s edge.

Walking along the trail we spotted this bright blue painted rock with a B on it. It was a little treasure nestled in off the side of the trail. There have been lots and lots of people painting rocks for others to find since the quarantine started. We decided to keep an eye out for more and we were not disappointed.

Wonder what the significance of the letter R was?

This little gem was in the crotch of a rotted tree branch.

This was actually a chunk of wood someone painted. Cute little rainbow!

Another spot of color on the trail.

Another letter, was this “I” the start of someone’s name?

We really enjoyed finding these. It was fun to think of people tucking them in along the way. Julia and I plan to paint a few and plant them on another trail. These made us smile so we will do the same for someone else.

And now…. too make you smile! Look at these two cuties!

These sisters really look alike. Older sister is on the left and little sister is on the right. They are surely cut from the same (very round) cookie cutter!

Hope you are finding ways to change things up a little. Getting outside, doing something new, learning something different? It all helps to keep us sane during this crazy season of life.

Looks like you both have a lot of fun, Bernie. I love the lake photo so peaceful and of course those two cities . Take care and stay safe!

I love seeing photos from your walk. How fortunate you are to be able to hike with your daughter! The painted rocks are a fun idea. And the adorable babies! I’m still smiling.

I am fortunate she is around these days. I very much miss my boys who are scattered about and sheltering in place. Seems so many of us are missing our children, grandchildren etc. My parents live close by so I do see them too. But that is about it. How about you? Are you doing ok with all of the quarantine issues? I hope all is well. πŸ™‚

Yay for walks Bernie!! It most certainly is a crazy time in our world right now. My husband & I also walked today, then came home and I went on a long walk by myself while listening to a podcast. I love podcasts, today’s was Gastropod (if you haven’t heard of it!) Walking ALWAYS helps me with any anxiety I’m feeling. ❀

Gastropod is a new one to me. I will have a listen! I really like podcasts too.
Glad you are getting out and walking. We are trying to do the same. The next few days are nice and cool so it will be easy to get out there. The heat makes it tough. I have to force myself to go in the early morning but my walking partner isn’t one to get up that early. πŸ˜‰

Yes – the girls have very round faces. H has really started to stretch out as she gets older but jeez, the similarities in their baby pictures are really something. I can’t wait to see them. Looks like we might have the opportunity in July!!

Bernie such beautiful grand daughters, love the little cheeks. That was a wonderful idea with the rocks. These days it’s nice to see something so simple but so cheerful like the bright color rocks and painted wood along the path. What a great day you both had.

Hi Shirley – it was a lovely day. We have been walking but staying in our neighborhood which gets boring. So nice to venture out and take advantage of the area we live in.

The girls are adorable and I can’t wait to see them. We are hoping to be able to do that this summer. Fingers crossed!

What a lovely photo of the two of you. (I still want to see more of your hair, though.) And that hike! I can’t stop looking at the photo of the pond with the reflection of the blue sky. And of course, I can never get enough of pictures of your little cherubs. The little stones are a fun find. We have them on our trail, too, as well as some little wooden signs someone put up with inspirational sayings.

You are quite welcome! I know I am biased but these girls are just adorable! So I figured I would share the joy – babies are just the best!!

Any time! That trail is always pretty – kind of shady so there are usually mosquitoes. But otherwise, it is a lovely place to spend time. πŸ™‚
