Thank You from Mercy Hospital

Below is a letter I received from the Palliative Care team at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, California. They are so grateful for all of the quilts you have made and donated to their program.

Dear Stitchers,

We are writing to thank you…words cannot explain how important these lovely Comfort Quilts are to the family of our dying patients.  When we deliver them, a look of relief and gratitude immediately takes the place of sadness and loss.  For our families to be able to take home something that their loved one has worn is amazing and unforgettable.

Thank you for all of your skill, hard work, and obvious love that is sewn into each and every quilt; our gratitude for this kindness will never end.  Please know that you are making a difference in someone’s life.  Thank you, again.

Sincerely and warmly,

The Palliative Care Team at Mercy General

Hi Bernie! Gosh, what more could you ask for when donating a quilt? What a nice, heartfelt thank you note. Thank you for sharing it with us, Bernie! ~smile~ Roseanne

That is so heart-warming. I keep looking around for something closer to donate quilts to and still am drawn back to Mercy quilts. I hope to complete another one early in the new year. Thank you for being their advocate and for taking the quilts to them; I know it is quite a responsibility, and I appreciate it.

I agree Louise – especially for a quilter like you who devotes so much time, creativity (and expense) to making quilts for others. It is a validation of your gift. These quilts do make a difference. Thank you for all of your generosity!

What a wonderful note! I wish it was easier to get more quilts to you for Mercyful. I will have to look into what similar needs may exist in my area. I have mostly donated to children’s organizations in the past but this also speaks to my heart. Thanks for the chance to be a part of something meaningful, Bernie!

Emily, I was so grateful last year to receive the quilts you donated to Mercyful Quilts. It was very generous of you. I have often thought about the expense everyone goes to when donating. Not just the fabric and supplies but also the expense of mailing something so bulky. If I can come up with a way to minimize this, I will let you know. It would make donating quilts soooo much easier for many of us. Merry Christmas Emily!! Enjoy the holidays with your family.
