It’s the Weekend!

My husband retired in July of 2019. It has been such a fun adjustment for both of us. He is just getting to the point where he doesn’t automatically think he will be going back to work on Monday. We often have to think twice to remember what day of the week it is. Mostly, it is like life is all one long weekend, which is awesome!

Snowing lightly right up the road.

This weekend we decided to spend a few days up the mountain at our little bungalow in Downieville. We haven’t been here in a couple of months what with the holidays and general busyness. We had hoped for a snowy weekend but it doesn’t seem like that is going to happen. There is a dusting of snow just a bit higher than us. Maybe it will get cold enough to snow a bit lower. I hope so!

This morning we took a nice long walk between rain showers. Because we are on the river up here, winters are very damp and chilly. All the moisture in the air creates the perfect environment for all sorts of moss and lichen to thrive here. The oak tree trunks and lower branches are covered right now. It dries out quite a bit when the weather is warm and then greens up in the cool of winter.

My little office away from home. 🙂

I love being up here. It is so quiet and really relaxing. This afternoon I will sit in my cozy little kitchen and list a stack of patterns in the pattern shop I have. It has been a while since I worked on that shop and I have hundreds (truly – hundreds!) of patterns to list.

Later today I have a date with a good book and a sweet quilt. I am currently reading Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood. This has been in my stack of books to read for a long while now and it is really good. This quilt is one we keep up here and I love it. This was the first time I did a block of the month and it was hosted by Aurifil some years back. The bright colors are unusual for me and it makes me happy!

This town is tiny and I could smell someone baking something yummy this morning. Of course this makes me crave something home baked. We don’t keep very much in the way of a pantry up here but I do have flour and sugar. I think I will make beer bread this afternoon. We brought elk chili (from the freezer at home) up for dinner. Don’t you think beer bread will go great with that?

Anyway, that sums up the weekend for us! Last week I did quite a bit of quilting on my Squared Away quilt. I would estimate I am about 1/2 way to finishing. So that is the goal for this week. Finish the quilting and then move on to binding it for the first finish of the year. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Quilt Shows and Quilt Alongs

Good morning all. I am enjoying a lovely, quiet morning here with coffee and some blog reading and I thought it a good time to catch up. It has been a while right?

Last weekend I spent a couple of days as a vendor at a fun show in the small town of Brownsville. I can’t say how much I enjoyed this little show. It was so relaxed and the people, quilters and wanderers both, were incredibly friendly. This guild has a membership of about 30 people with roughly half being very active. The town has a population of approximately 1300 people. It was quite nostalgic for me as my first husband’s grandparents lived in Brownsville and we spent many Thanksgiving weekends with them in their very tiny house. Grandma Ada cooked on a woodturning stove and was into quilting, crochet, and stamp collecting. I have one quilt of hers, all hand stitched hexies. It is in need of repairs, being made in the 1940’s and hopefully one day I will get around to it.

The toddler books and the sweet tape measures were a popular item during the show.

Back to the show! Because it was a very small show, I didn’t bring as much inventory as I normally do. There was a corner of one table with fun notions and projects. The toddler fabric books were a fun find for customers – I had a sample of each one available.

I pre-cut quite a bit of fabric into one yard cuts so I would have enough selection without having to pack and unpack all of those bolts. Not shown in the picture is another table which displayed a number of bolts as well as the pre-cuts.

Everyone wanted to pet Jack, an emotional therapy dog used by the Sherrif’s department.

Other than the friendly quilters, one thing I was really taken with was the presentation done on Sunday afternoon at the end of the show. This small group of quilters makes an impressive number of community service quilts each year. They get together every Wednesday to work on their CS quilts. The stack they had on display was just amazing. On Sunday afternoon, the representatives of the groups to which the quilts are donated are introduced and presented with their quilts. There was a representative from the Fire Department, Hospice, local Domestic Violence as well as the Sheriff’s Department. Most of the representatives told a heartwarming story of how the quilts are used before thanking the group and loading up with quilts for the year. There was an emotional support dog who came along with the sheriff that works with children who have been removed from scary situations. The idea of presenting the quilts in this way was really touching. Do any of you do this with your community service quilts? I think it provided a meaningful opportunity for the quilters who make all of these gifts to see how valued and appreciated their work is.

October piecing for the Mosaic Mystery QAL

Last week I finished up the October blocks for the Mosaic Mystery QAL. These were simple (as you can see) but I think this is truly the only sewing I did all week! At least I am caught up and can begin the November piecing now.

The Truckee River in November

My husband and I spent a couple of days away earlier in the week. We had to go up and check on our house in Downieville since we had not been up there for so long. Because of the power outages we had to toss everything in the fridge and freezer which was quite annoying. We also spent a day with my in-laws which was lovely. We took a long walk along the river and got a lot of visiting in.

Coming soon!

Finally, just in case you haven’t seen this yet – there is another great quilt along coming up. The Push-Pull Quilt Along begins next week. The schedule is very relaxed with prompts announced every three weeks. Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl is the host and as with the last QAL, it is a transparency quilt. This technique is so unusual and the results are always striking. Needle and Foot will be sponsoring some of the prizes for the link ups. Quilt fabric kits will also be available in the shop for those who want to choose a ready-made collection of solids. The kits were curated by Yvonne so you know they will be a stunning set of color. Photos of these will be shared in a couple of weeks.

This is a three day weekend for many in the US (honoring the veterans in our country). For me, it means Julia had time to come home from school. She is here until Tuesday early morning, when I will take her back down to school. She sent a list of foods she has been missing so lots of cooking is going on. This is what all of my kids seemed to do when they were home during college. “Mom, will you make XXX for dinner?” So spaghetti and meatballs, bbq pulled pork with slaw, and Baked Potato Soup are on the menu this weekend. Ah, a light and low fat menu to be sure!! I love feeding my kiddos. Hope you are enjoying the long weekend if you are in the US. Many thanks to all of those in Service who support our country now or did so in the past!

Sweetest Skirt with Trixie & Thomas

Another distraction popped up the other day. I have been wanting to make something for my grand daughter with the new Trixie fabric. This piece was designed by Heather Ross and it features two little mice, Trixie and her friend Thomas. I really love it! By the time I ordered it, a few key pieces were already sold out. However, I do have these two sweet bolts in the store.

I am fully aware the fabric in the shop is supposed to be sold. That is the goal. However, it is really difficult not to cut into certain bolts and this is one of those. These little mice are too cute. In real life, I have a huge issue with rodents, mice, etc. Ugh! But these, I can handle these little critters!

The pattern was a freebie from SewCanShe.com. This little skirt is so simple to make. The length of the skirt seemed quite short so I added a bit more length by adding on the second ruffle with the green floral.

I was also able to add some length by stitching a band of the floral around the top of the skirt. I used that to create the casing for the elastic. This added about one inch to the overall length. I love the way that pop of green looks at the top too!

I packaged up the skirt this morning and will mail it off to Vermont tomorrow morning. The elastic is not yet stitched together. I really wasn’t sure if I was making the waist the correct size so I am hoping my daughter in law can check the fit and then stitch it together. I know H will love these little mice with the bicycles.

Heather Ross creates such whimsical designs. Trixie is no exception. For those of you who are really into fussy cutting, the design lends itself perfectly! Hopefully it will fit H and I can share a picture of her wearing it soon.

Mosaic Mystery Quilt Kits

It is the first week of July, so you know what that means, right? The annual Meadow Mist Mystery Quilt kicks off! Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs is back with her 5th annual mystery quilt, called the Mosaic Mystery, beginning on Thursday, July 4th.  This confident beginner level quilt along is completely free to join and has a relaxed pace with monthly instructions posted on the first Thursday of each month.  All quilt instructions will be posted on the Meadow Mist Designs blog and you can find all information about the quilt along on the Mosaic Mystery page.  Join over 3,700 other quilters in the friendly and quite active Meadow Mist Designs Facebook Group .  Cheryl is also offering a non-mystery option for those that want to join in, but would rather see the design ahead of time.  You can sign up for the non-mystery option here

This year I am involved on a couple of levels. Needle and Foot is sponsoring two different prizes during the event, one in August and another at the final reveal when the QAL wraps up. Additionally, Needle and Foot has two kits curated specifically for the Mosaic Mystery Quilt. This is really exciting! Cheryl and I worked together to create two kits, each with very different vibes.

For some quilters, a Mystery Quilt can be somewhat daunting. It might feel a bit nerve wracking to pick fabrics without knowing what the pattern looks like. To this end, Cheryl and I thought it would be nice to have kits available for you to choose from. Both collections contain a selection of fabrics from Art Gallery Fabric, with a solid as the background and three prints used in the quilt and as the binding.

One of my kits contain three prints from the Sun Kissed line. Designed by Maureen Cracknell, these fabrics are summery and so cheerful. The Sun Kissed kit is available here.

Going clockwise, there is Linen for the background, Summer Dress Dreams, Hazy Daisies in Scarlet, and Bandana in Grapefruit.

The prints include large and medium scales which just happen to work well with the design of the Mystery Quilt.

Above are the details on the Sun Kissed kit for your review.

This stunning kit contains print fabrics from Pat Bravo’s Matchmade line. Created by Pat as a line of blenders, the range of color used for the Matchmade fabrics is bold and saturated. To see more details, click here.

The background is a solid black called Caviar. The prints starting in the top left and going clockwise; Indication Midnight, Positivity Berry, and Positivity Midnight.

This kit is very modern with strong contrast. The prints are small scale and not the primary focus of the kit. The color is the focus – shades of teal and berry with a dramatic black background. Gorgeous!

Here are some details on the Matchmade kit for you to review.

I have had such a great experience working with Cheryl creating these two kits for you. If you are someone who is intimidated by the prospect of selecting fabrics for a mystery quilt pattern, be sure to take a look at the kits. Cheryl and I tried to create two very different kits, both modern with bold colors and yet each with a very different feel to them. Using strictly Art Gallery Fabrics in the kits means they are of the highest quality. Kits do not include the backing fabric or batting. However, I do have fabrics in stock that work really well for the backings for both kits. You can see backing suggestions when you click through to the kit links.

There are a number of each kit available in the shop. Come take a look! If you have any questions about the QAL – hop over to Cheryl’s so she can assist. Questions about the kits? Leave them in the comments or shoot me an email. And…. just to have some fun, let’s take a vote. Which kit is your favorite? Let me know in the comments. I am so curious.

Flock of Geese Quilt Finish & Kit

As you may know, I began to stock a fun selection of modern quilt patterns in the shop a few months ago. I have been working on building up a variety of patterns so that my customers will have plenty to select from. So far, I am carrying patterns by Meadow Mist Designs, Bonjour Quilts, Devoted Quilter, Quilting Jetgirl, and – most recently – Cooking Up Quilts. There has been really good response to these and I am enjoying seeing the gorgeous patterns from these talented designers.

Flock of Geese Quilt Pattern, designed by Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs.

As often happens, one thing lead to another and I asked Cheryl Brickey (Meadow Mist Designs) if she would help me to create a kit for a pattern of hers. Together we decided it would be fun to make a kit for the Flock of Geese pattern. She and I shopped for fabrics in my shop and came up with such a pretty compilation after many emails back and forth.

The kit for the Flock of Geese pattern contains beautiful fabric from Art Gallery Fabric.

Pulling the kit together was lots of fun and Cheryl made a rendering of the Flock of Geese pattern using the fabrics we selected.

With the exception of two, all of the fabrics in this quilt were designed by Sharon Holland. She is one of my all-time favorites and I wanted to use her work specifically. Above you will see fabrics from her Signature line as well as Sketchbook. They work together perfectly!

Half square triangles, ready to go.

I wanted to make up a sample of the quilt and decided to make the baby size. The pattern includes baby and lap size quilt options. The smaller size was better for me as I intend to use it in the booth at the local quilt show I am working in May.

Quilt top with the blocks on point.

This pattern is a very easy make. It contains half square triangles which make up the blocks and then the blocks are set on point. Very fun and not difficult at all. Cheryl’s instructions are crystal clear which this quilter is grateful for!

Love the simple cross hatch quilting

Using a Hera marker (my favorite tool!) I quilted straight lines in a cross hatch pattern. It worked really well for this design. The cross hatch pattern looks good with these blocks set on point. For someone who is really into FMQ, there is a lot of negative space on which intricate quilting could be done.

Such a pretty quilt for spring time!

This quilt is so soft. The batting is Hobbs Heirloom and with the widely spaced quilting, it drapes beautifully. I haven’t washed it yet but we know that will make it even cozier.

For the backing, I selected Texture Slots, a piece from Sharon’s Sketchbook line. Great colors and it coordinates with the fabrics in the quilt top. The binding is from her Signature line and is called Traveler Raindrops. The binding is machine stitched to front and back. My choice on binding method is dependent on my mood. Sometimes I am feeling the urge to hand stitch and others, not so much. Both methods look fine to me so I go back and forth between them.

The finished quilt is so sweet. I am happy as can be with it and equally happy to offer the kit in my shop. Working with Cheryl has been a treat and I look forward to more collaboration with her in the future! If you are interested in the kit, I have it available in both baby and lap sizes. Also, it can be purchased with or with out the Flock of Geese pattern. For those quilters who might already have the pattern, there is the option to purchase just the fabric. Click here for more details.

A new monthly linkup is coming soon!

Linking up with my favorite Linky parties. Speaking of which, there is a new link up happening at the end of the month. Cheryl, of Meadow Mist Designs, will be hosting a new monthly linkup. It opens the last day of the month and is called Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup. The first linkup is on March 30th. Quilters – link up your favorite make for the month using an existing or new blog post or a post from Instagram. This will be a lot of fun as we celebrate our favorite make from the past month!

2018 Blogger Bundles-Reader’s Choice & Giveaway

I have been so excited for this last Blogger Bundle event of 2018!  Throughout the year it has been such fun to share specially curated bundles of fabric with you. This has allowed me to work closely with eleven different bloggers as they created a collection and then made something special with it.  Many of you have bought them and enjoyed these unique bundles too.  As the year progressed, I knew I wanted to do something special to wrap it all up at the end of the year.  That is exactly what is going to happen today! Warning, this post is a bit on the long side.  Sit back, have some tea and enjoy!

Each blogger’s collection was available for a limited time only so they are no longer listed in the shop. Now it is your turn to take another look good look at each of them. I would love for each of you to review the bundles that were curated and sold each month. Then I want to ask you to vote using the form at the end of this post and tell me which bundle is your favorite.  This is only for fun. Although, really, just think of the amazing bragging rights it will provide the winning blogger with!!  She will have this new feather in her cap – winning the incredibly prestigious honor of having been voted curator of the favorite Needle & Foot 2018 Blogger Bundle!  Yikes, it will be life changing for her.  Haha – not really. But it will be fun to see which bundle, of all of these gorgeous collections, is the most well received.

Wait – there is more!!! Each month as these bundles were promoted, I held one back, resulting in this lovely array of amazing fabric!

As a special way to wrap up the year, I will be giving away the full collection of eleven fat quarter bundles to one very lucky reader.  There will be a random drawing from all who vote and one person will win the entire set of blogger bundles! What a great way to add some fantastic bundles to your stash.  Think of all you could create in 2019 with these!

To vote, you will need to take a look at each bundle. (Please vote only one time!) International readers, I am happy to have you vote but you won’t be eligible for the giveaway.  The package will be too heavy, and thus costly, for me to mail out of the country.

So here we go – 2018 Blogger Bundles on parade! You have seen these photos before but it may help you to see them all in one place to jog your memory.

January was the first bundle and it was designed by Sarah Goer of Sarah Goer Quilts. Did you know Sarah is now available to teach at your guild?  Check out her info here if you are interested!

The second bundle (February) was created by Kitty of NightQuilter.com.  Be sure to check out Kitty’s Craftsy site to see her selection of paper pieced patterns!

In March I worked with Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl for the monthly collection.  You might enjoy taking a peek at the collection of modern patterns designed by Yvonne.  They are stunning and many use her color transparency methods with excellent results.

April blogger bundle

Cheryl curated the April bundle.  She blogs at Meadow Mist Designs. You may have heard Cheryl co-authored her first book, Modern Pus Sign Quilts, this year.  It is a great book and you can take a look at it here.

The whimsical bundle for May was chosen by Jayne of Twiggy & Opal. Jayne is the queen of truly incredible improv and a constant inspiration to me.  Check out her shop here.  You will be happy you did!

Summer came along with this lovely bundle fo June, curated by Paige of Quilted Blooms.  Paige is the other author of Modern Plus Sign Quilts book. It is available here (no affiliate link).

Working on the July Blogger Bundle was a delight and it gave me the opportunity to get to know Kim Soper of Leland Ave Studios.  She is an amazing artist and her curated bundle did not disappoint! Kim just finished the In Our Own Words quilt which is truly spectacular. Please take a look1

Carole, of From My Carolina Home, did an outstanding job with the bundle for September! She was just a pleasure to work with as well.  Have you seen her series of Scrap Dance patterns?  I just love each one of them!

September came along and there was a pretty bundle curated by Mari of Academic Quilter. Mari has been such a contributor to our quilting community with her wonderful block of the month events each year. Her tutorials are so well written and all are available other blog!

October brought a unique bundle created by Kim of Persimon Dreams.  You probably know of Kim from her popular Project Quilting event that happens annually. Will you be participating this year? I love the event and happily sponsor a prize or two for it.

Last, but certainly not least, is the November bundle.  This stunner was created by Sandra of MMM! Quilts.  Most of you know Sandra and what a bundle of energy she is.  It shows in this great collection.  Sandra has been designing patterns for a bit (On the Plus Side is my favorite) and has them available here.

I hope this jogged your memory of the bundles we enjoyed this year.  Now it is your turn.  Please use the form below to cast just ONE vote for your favorite bundle!!  Voting is open all week, through the end of the day on Saturday, December 15th. One vote per person please! I can’t wait to see the results!! Good luck everyone.

November Blogger Bundle – Sandra Walker, MMM! Quilts

Good morning everyone!  You are in for such a treat today.  I am so excited to share the November Blogger Bundle with you.  This is the eleventh and final bundle for the year. In a grand finale sort of way, this bundle has it all.  Saturated jewel tones, florals and plaids, the magic of BariJ and the sweet fantasy of Bethan Janine.  But I am wayyyy ahead of myself.  First let’s meet the curator of this very special collection.

Sandra Walker is the blogger behind, Musings of a Menopausal Melon, or MMM! Quilts.  I remember specifically clicking through to her blog after seeing the title somewhere in this blogging world (how could I not, with a title like that!?!)  I also remember she and I mentioning we were the same age (basically?) and both newly retired and trying out this blogging thing. It is one of those things where you chat with someone and just hit off right away. A few things I love about Sandra – her energy appears to be boundless, she is genuine and I can say this without ever having met her in person.  But her blog posts are the real deal. Sandra is passionate and sometimes feels the hurts in the world almost too intensely.  She is a wife, former teacher, mom and grandma to a sweet little guy as well as blogger, quilter, pattern designer and Island Batik Ambassador – Yikes!!!.  She is into yoga and will share a blog post describing a good pose or stretch now and then.  I love those posts. She has been designing patterns for a while now and has them available on both Etsy and Craftsy.  Also, Sandra has hosted some really popular quilt alongs – you can see the patterns if you click here.

The November Blogger Bundle.

Back to the bundle now!  By starting with the two pieces from Virtuosa by BariJ, Sandra developed a dramatic feel with this bundle. She then added the mustard yellow piece from Boho Meadow by Bethan Janine which was really interesting to me.  The BariJ fabrics are so feminine and there is a definite boho southwest vibe to the dark yellow piece.  But you know what? It works.  The yellow now popped on the Cinese Mystery floral and those bits of turquoise in the Boho Meadow fabric became that much brighter! Pulling in the plum and the sandy off-white tone on tones was an easy move after that.  It was the blue that was challenging.  Sandra looked at many blue pieces in the shop and when the blue plaid was suggested, we both knew it was perfect.  It has just the right dark and light blue hues to work with both the BariJ prints.  Such a great bundle!!

Two bundles to give away to two lucky readers!!!

Sandra made a pretty tote with her bundle.  Be sure you hop over to her blog and check it out.  I just love it. Also, this month there are two bundle giveaways!!  Because Sandra lives in Canada, she is hosting a giveaway for Canadian readers.  I am hosting a giveaway for US readers. I apologize to the rest of my readers – if only postage wasn’t so expensive. :-(. So – Canadian readers, please be sure to go enter Sandra’s giveaway for a bundle of fat quarters!

This beauty is on sale through Friday! 20% off – Yahoo!

As with all of the other monthly bundles, this one is on sale for 20% off.  Sale begins today and runs through the end of the day on Friday.

To enter the giveaway for US readers, please leave me a comment telling me how you might choose to use the bundle.  Also, extra entries for followers – leave a SEPARATE comment telling me how you follow.  You can follow me on Instagram and Facebook. Hope you will join the fun!

I have just love working with so many special bloggers creating these specially curated bundles. Please be sure to come back in December for a really fun event to celebrate all eleven blogger bundles!  I promise it is going to be a lot of fun!

Happy Birthday Sale!

Today I celebrate my 58th birthday – how that has come to be, I cannot explain.  Isn’t time the strangest phenomenon?  The older I get, the more quickly it buzzes by.  When I was young I would wish for the next age or stage.  In seventh grade my mother allowed us to begin shaving our legs and wearing panty hose.  At 12 or 13 (?) we were allowed to get our ears pierced.  Of course there is driving at 16, a very exciting rite of passage and voting at 18 (are we all voting in the upcoming election??).  I married at 20 (to my first husband); graduated college at 21, had my babies at 24, 26, and 30.  Married again at 37 and had baby number 4 at age 40.  Now I just want it to SLOW DOWN!!!!  But it doesn’t, does it?

So, today I am celebrating! It is the 25th of the month so I am holding a site-wide 25% off sale!  Not only that, I would like to give a $25 gift certificate to my shop!  Please leave me a comment with an age related memory.  What comes to mind?  I will draw a winner tomorrow morning!

Looking forward to this trip around the sun and feeling so fortunate that all of you are taking it with. me!!

Giveaway now closed.  Congratulations Preeti!!  You are the winner of the $25 gift certificate to the shop!!  Hurray.  Thank you everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes and great memories you all shared.  They were so much fun to read!

October Blogger Bundle with Kim Lapacek

Over the past several weeks, I have had the pleasure of working with Kim Lapacek.  She is the curator of the October Blogger Bundle! Just in case you are not familiar with Kim, she is a talented quilter who blogs at Persimon Dreams. She is also a wife, mom to three sweet girls, business owner (Lapacek’s Orchard) and all around crafter. Kim designs patterns, speaks and teaches on occasion, makes incredible quilts, and she is the creative force behind Project Quilting. Knowing how busy Kim is, I was tickled to see the photo she provided for the blogger bundle graphic.  In the car, driving her girls somewhere, sporting cute sunglasses – this is the perfect picture of Kim!

In the Garden, designed and pieced by Kim Lapacek

I remember “meeting” Kim when I won a giveaway on someone’s blog (I can’t remember whose blog though). I was given an opportunity to choose a pattern and I selected Kim’s Dresden Neighborhood pattern. I love the pattern and have really enjoyed seeing so many iterations of it made by other quilters even if I haven’t yet made one!  I was so happy when Kim wanted to curate a bundle for me.  Her bold use of color is her signature style and I was excited to see her choices.  Let’s take a look!

October Blogger Bundle!

Kim’s bundle has a warm autumn theme to it with the darker burgundy and navy blue tones in it. Including the Catching Dreams (feathers) and the Afternoon With Deer prints created a really warm feel to the collection. For me, the surprising elements that Kim added are the two gorgeous, modern prints by Keiko Goke, Sashiko and Poppy. I love this line – it is probably one of my favorite lines in the shop – but not one I would think to put with the deer fabric.  That is how Kim rolls; bold prints and great color combinations. She created a block with these fabrics to show how they can be used together.  Hop over to her blog to see the block and take advantage of the tutorial she created for it.

As with the previous Blogger Bundles, the collection is now available in my shop.  Today through end of day Friday, the bundle is on sale for 20% off!  Take advantage of this pricing to add one to your stash – choose either a fat quarter or 1/2 yard bundle.  Also, enter to win a bundle on Kim’s site. You might be the lucky one!  Finally, if one of the fabrics in the bundle piques your interest, all are available individually as well.

Thank you Kim for working with me!  I love this bundle of saturated color. It is hard to believe this is the tenth Blogger Bundle.  Come back in November for the final bundle of the year! In December the Blogger Bundles will culminate with a fun event I planned to wrap up the year!

June Blogger Bundle with Paige Alexander

Here we are in the last half of June – this means it is time for the blogger bundle of the month! If you are reading about these bundles for the first time, I started this project in January.  Read about them here and here. The previous blogger bundles will be available in my shop through the end of 2018 – it is really fun to look at the variety of fabrics others have curated into collections.  Click here to see all of them!

The bundle for June was curated by Paige Alexander of Quilted Blooms.  I cannot remember exactly how I learned of Paige’s blog but I do know I have read her posts since the very first one.  I believe a blogger (maybe Cheryl Brickey?) introduced the me to Paige and suggested I check out her work.  I did so and never left!  Paige’s style is very modern and also relatable.  I am not sure if that is the correct word but I love her work because I understand it.  Her quilts are meticulous, clean and very effective.

Pieced and Quilted by Paige Alexander

Above is Paige’s Cursive quilt,   She made this about two years ago and it has been juried into several shows and won several ribbons.  It is one of my favorite quilts she has made.  Partly because she constructed the background, quilted it and then did the appliqué.  Look closely and you will see she quilted line after line of the alphabet in cursive.  This was a genius technique.  I really encourage you to check out her work if you are not yet familiar with it.

June Blogger Bundle

On to the bundle!  Paige selected a grouping of summery pieces that all hail from Windham Fabric. As we head into summer, this fresh palette of green, orange, yellow and pink are akin to a bouquet of flowers.  She chose pieces that are really cheerful and bright – I love each one of them!

I think this bundle would be excellent used together in a project or added to your stash to give it a bright pick-me-up!  Paige has been working on a piece with these fabrics and I am really excited to check it out – I had a sneak peek a few weeks ago and it is going to be really pretty! While the project is not yet finished, Paige is sharing her progress with us today.  Make sure to take a look!

June Blogger Bundle

As with prior blogger bundles, this one is now available as either a fat quarter or 1/2 yard bundle in my shop.  I have placed it on sale, 20% off, for the next couple of days.  Sale ends Friday.  Paige is hosting a giveaway for one lucky winner (US only due to postage expense). Be sure to go to her site to enter!!

I hope you are enjoying this Blogger Bundle series as much as I am.  I have learned so much about color choices through working with these talented quilters!
